Heading Home
Kylie and I had our first solo flight home today. Autumn was on a later flight after her training. Everything was good with the exception of a huge crowd of old people from Paraná that swarmed and surrounded us at the gate before takeoff and one 5 minute crying fit about half way through the flight. Great job babe!
Hello fellow airport travelers!
I'm cute, let's be friends!
Ready for take-off
Asleep at last!

São Paulo - 4
Autumn only had a half day of training today, so we got to hang out in the afternoon! We had "lunch" at a Japanese restaurant that was so terrible we had to leave. We made our last obligatory visit to Starbucks, visited Parque Ten Siquiera Campos and had a great last dinner at Arabia!
Kylie all wrapped up after a dip in the pool!
Goodbye old friend!
We'll miss you!
Just me and my wife, Altom!
Hibiscus
Ack! This food is terrible!
Cheese!
So cute!

São Paulo - 3
While Autumn was at work today, Kylie and I caught up on sleep in the room and touristed around Jardins a little bit. We met up with one of Autumn's old colleagues, Xixala, for dinner at a great Italian restaurant.
Such colorful graffiti!
Lunch for two!
More rogue knitters!
Fully rested and ready for more adventure!

São Paulo - 2
For our second day of touristing in São Paulo, we had breakfast at Bella Paulista and rode the metrô over to Liberdade, aka Japan-town, for their Sunday market! The food and shopportunities were incredible, as expected! We made a quick stop by the Catedral Metropolitana and then made a misguided attempt to visit a shrine that ended up being closed. After a quick metro ride back to the hotel, we met up with some friends from Recife for lunch at a pretty good crepe restaurant, Bistro Paris. After some objections from the baby, we turned in early to catch up on rest.
Breakfast at Bella Paulista was good for coffee and pastries.
I like this guy's schedule! haha!
(It's short for sexta-feira aka Friday,
but it still cracks me up every time I look at a calendar!)
Bem vindo a Liberdade!
Family photo!
More cool graffiti
I loved that they had "Mexican Gold" for sale at a Japanese grocery store.
Also love that "okonomiyaki" (a noodle and shrimp pancake)
is translated into Portuguese as "Japanese Pizza"!
Waffers anyone?
Try to NOT say that in an mock-asian accent! It's impossible!
Mmmmm....it's a gyozão!
This literally weighed like a pound!
Fresh-squeezed passion fruit juice!
Some kind of coconut no-bake cookie
(which fell out of that "bag" onto the ground in one second
since it was actually just a paper tube with no bottom!)

Catedral Metropolitana / homeless camp!
No Buddhist temple for you!
Haha! Farto!

São Paulo - 1
We finally took our first real trip in Brazil this weekend! Autumn had to go to São Paulo for training, so we took advantage and came down for the whole weekend beforehand. It was a great learning experience for traveling with the baby, and we had a great time! We flew in Friday night, checked into the hotel late and went to bed.
Saturday morning, we got up early and headed straight to Starbucks (which they do not have in Recife....que horror!). Coffee in hand, we went for a walk through Jardins from Avenida Paulista to Rua Oscar Freire (the SP equivalent of 5th Ave in NYC). After our walk, one of our old friends from Portuguese class picked us up for a driving tour of the city, followed by lunch at Hecho en Mexico, some shopping and dinner at Pizza na Mão. Thanks Ezio!
Good morning São Paulo!
