Back in DC!

While Autumn is in training this week, Kylie and I tagged along to catch up on dentist appointments, shop and get re-Americanized!! Grandpa Ron and Grandma Julie even joined in on the fun. After dragging everyone from store to store and doctor office to doctor office, we took the afternoon to check out the new MLK Jr. monument. We opted to wait until the day AFTER the 50th anniversary of the "I have a dream..." speech to avoid the enormous crowds, although it would have been great to see Obama and Oprah! Here is our restaurant schedule for the week, just in case anyone needs suggestions in the NOVA / DC area:

M:  Dogfish Head
T:  McCormick & Schmick's
W:  Lost Dog
Th:  Rosa Mexicano

Visit with Grandpa Ed

Autumn's dad came down for a visit this week, and we had a great time! He and Kylie got to spend lots of time together, and she even got to open a few early birthday presents! Thanks for the great visit!

Today our section had a breakfast party.  Eric made pumpkin flavored whoopie pies.  They were amazing, as usual, and everyone loved them.  Eric is the best!

Olinda in the Winter

Since my dad is here visiting, we made another visit to our neighboring city of Olinda to take in the historic sights.  It was a beautiful day for a walk, and we saw lots of cool stuff!

Breezy morning by the ocean.

Eric and Kylie ready for adventure!

We stopped at Convento São Francisco to tour.

Portuguese tile work in the courtyard.

Pretty old...

The view up from the courtyard.

Viva!

Dad and I making the requisite stop, posing as Carnaval goers.

Ready for a busy day of coconut selling!

Everyone say queijo!

Look very closely at those vines...there are zucchini growing on that roof!

Street art brightening our day.

More street art, this one wins Most Creative Use of Already Existing Windows.

The courtyard of our last stop of the day.  A beautiful morning tour indeed!

Fun with Kylie

Warning! Excessive cuteness! Proceed with CAUTION!!!

SO, Kylie is growing and changing each day, and basically one-upping her own cuteness factor at each turn. Here are some ridiculously cute happenings around Casa Oakley these days! Also, we dug through the "clothes that don't fit yet" bin, and found some real treasures!

Waterspout? Very specific downpour? Eyeore, or somebody with their own personal black raincloud?
You be the judge!

Out of ideas for the baby?
Put her in a reusable shopping bag / swing / baby elevator / peekaboo fort!
Our housekeeper was laughing her a$# off with this one!

 Fun with the peeker!

 Kaleidoscopic!

This is one of K's current favorite toys!

Cropped baby top and Daisy Duke shorts! Classic!

Oh yeah! We had a power outage, and thus a romantic candelit dinner!

 Wowee-zowee!

 Send in the clowns!

I really wanted to win this boat for Brazilian Father's Day! haha!
This one's for you O'Winstons!

Crocs are baby tooth indestructible!
