Instagram Round Up: Honolulu Edition

Some extra highlights from our week in Honolulu!

Aloha from Waikiki!

My favorite beer maker, Kona Brewery, has a restaurant in Honolulu!  My beer flight was the highlight, with Koko Brown being my new favorite.  Yum, love Kona beer!

Also, Mai Tais might be my new favorite mixed drinks.  Pure yum.

We stopped here for some hot malasadas...a Portuguese donut type thing.  Delish!

Kylie is learning to use chopsticks.  She picked up her Ariel toy and pretended to eat her with no help from us... that girl is smart.

On our way out of Honolulu, the TSA officers gave K this awesome Keiki Officer sticker, which she wore with pride all the way to Majuro.  (Keiki is child in Hawaiian.)

We had so much fun in Honolulu, and in the US over the past few months.  Thank you to everyone who came out to spend time with us in WA, NV, CA, DC, VA, TN, MD, MA, and HI.  It's been really fun!  Now it's on to the next adventure...

Vamos para São Luís, Maranhão!

This week I traveled to São Luís, Maranhão for work.  The city is located on Brazil's northeastern coast.  I enjoyed my trip very much.  We got a lot of work done, and saw a lot of this beautiful and historic Brazilian city.

Time to represent!

That is a lot of meat.  Like, way a lot.  It sure was good, though.

Good morning!

São Luís is famous for its beautiful Portuguese tile on the outside of the buildings.  It makes the city bright and colorful!

Downtown São Luís.

Cheese!

A delicious caipirinha after a hard day's work!

Enjoying sunset at the beach.

Beautiful, wild beach.

Enjoying a Jesus soda, a soda found only in Maranhão.  It was very sweet.

Rio Getaway!

To celebrate my friend's birthday, we spent a long weekend in Rio de Janeiro!  It was my second trip, but my first as a tourist.  I visited before in December for my job, and I worked the whole time.  I saw the Christo from a taxi, and that was about it.  This time my friend and I set out to see things that we couldn't bring our kids to, since it was a rare trip without them.

Starting the day off right at Stabucks.  Olin?  That would be me.

Fresh produce in a street market.

This is the Metropolitan Cathedral downtown.  Very modern.

Stained glass inside.

The top.

Next we found this Presbyterian church, so we had a look there too.

Beautiful and peaceful.

Following this we proceeded to get pretty lost.  Getting lost can be fun too, though.  :)

After getting our bearings and grabbing some lunch, we had a tour of the Municipal Theater.

Stained glass inside.

The ornate interior.

Dinner brought us to Via Sete, where I had this burger with pesto, cherry tomatoes and burrata.  What a day!

Dublin 5

Today is our last day in Dublin, so we crammed one more morning of touristing in! We stopped by the Queen of Tarts for breakfast on our way to St. Patrick's Cathedral, and then spent an hour searching for diapers and wipes that I had forgotten to pack that morning. We averted a near diaper-disaster and hurried through the cathedral on our way back home to pack. Whew!

O'Connell St. and the Dublin Spire (the tallest structure in the city!)

 Greetings from the Merchant's Alley

First breakfast at McDonald's (no Sausage McMuffins in Brazil!)
Second breakfast at the Queen of Tarts!

Sun coming up over the city

We stumbled upon St. Catherine's while searching for emergency diapers!

 St. Patrick's Cathedral at last!

None shall pass...just kidding €5 please.

 Originally built in 1254!

 The stained glass was impressive!

 More floor mosaics

 Ooh!

 Ahh!

 Oh!

 Hallelujah!

 Very old flags

 View from the pulpit

A harp? What a coincidence that the building was restored by Sir Benjamin Guinness in 1860!

  A high cross!

This stone was found in St. Patrick's well and dates from AD 450! So old!

Thank you Johnathan and Krissy for a wonderful time!!!
