DF Madness!

Since we have a holiday just about every week, Autumn and I decided to take Friday off to extend Cinco de Mayo into a four day weekend. If you "follow" us, you know we haven't been home much, so we spent the weekend at home and around Mexico City catching up on little errands, etc. including FINALLY downloading photos from our phones, which proved to contain some hilarious sights from around town over the past few months. Here's the recap:

 Autumn's latest Starbucks name?
2dam!!
Interesting choice of a baby bottle!
Shout out to our buen amigo, Virgilio Borderopoli, in Greece!
One of our fave cupcake places is on Virgilio street.
This was from my Aeromexico flight a few months ago...
I understand the don't throw your latest origami creation, cup, bottle, cassette tape, or watch in the toilet, but who has a pizza box in an airplane bathroom?!?

Please note that once again, the printed explanation is only in English....

Hmmm...is it just me or does this snack cake seem a little racist?

 Crazy t-shirt contest entry #12:
"You LOOK my heart, treat with care"

 Translation:
!!Be careful!!
Please do not open this door.
It does not work.
Excuse the trouble.

No trouble at all! Autumn managed to contort her arm to claim her Johnsonville breakfast sausage treasure!

Sadly, we have finally broken down and started shopping at Superama, a grocery store owned by
...da da dum...

Wal*mart!

Oh the humanity!

Unfortunately, it really is just about the nicest grocery store in all of Mexico, and basically the only one that doesn't smell like fish / old shoes.

And finally...
Our latest baking disaster. Autumn's deputy cannot stop talking about his attempts to bake brownies at altitude, so I decided to try out a recipe to give to him. Unfortunately, my attempt didn't fare much better than his. Somehow this formed a strange brownie bubble that grew about 1 1/2 times the height of the pan then collapsed in on itself, resulting in a hard crusty outside with a gooey uncooked layer inside and just a big, empty, air pocket for a middle.

The search will have to continue...

On a side note, we have heard from multiple sources that ovens in Mexico are basically used for storage of pots and pans, and that we are going against the nature of the universe for trying to use it for anything else.
